A Family Retreat in Paradise: My Stay at Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita
As a luxury travel associate for Swords Travel, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing some of the world’s most luxurious resorts, but there’s something truly special about returning to Mauritius—a place close to my heart. Having lived on the island during my maternity leave and recently spent four weeks exploring its best hotels with my family, I can confidently say that the Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita stands out as a one of the best resorts on the island, especially for families.
A Luxurious Family-Friendly Oasis
Located on the east coast of Mauritius, the Four Seasons at Anahita is the epitome of five-star luxury. The resort is set over an expansive 26 hectares, offering villa-style accommodations that are both private and indulgent. Each villa comes with its own pool, and with options ranging from one to five bedrooms, there’s something to suit every family size. What truly sets the villas apart is the thoughtful inclusion of bikes for all ages—complete with stabilisers and baby seats—which made exploring the resort so much fun for our entire family.
An Unforgettable Kids Club Experience
Having visited numerous resorts across Mauritius, I can confidently say that the Four Seasons’ kids club is the best we’ve encountered. What made it exceptional wasn’t just the range of activities, but the fact that there were always plenty of kids participating, which created a lively and engaging atmosphere. I’ve no doubt that this was helped by a member of the kids club team greeting the kids with gifts whilst we were checking in and telling them all about the activities. Our children particularly loved the night time crab hunts on the beach, cookie baking sessions, tennis lessons, and pool parties with inflatables in the heated kids’ pool. The staff’s enthusiasm was infectious, and their dedication to making every child’s stay memorable was evident in every activity. Although the kids club is complimentary for children aged four and above, our three-year-old son was also welcomed due to his potty training—a testament to the resort’s flexibility and family-friendly approach.
A Day on Ile Aux Cerf
One of the highlights of our stay was our day trip to Ile Aux Cerf Island, just opposite the resort. Four Seasons has its own exclusive beach on the island, complete with beach service, a bar, and a restaurant. The sand was like fine white powder, and the crystal-clear waters were perfect for a day of relaxation. The complimentary boat transfers, running every hour, made it easy to enjoy this slice of paradise without any hassle.
Unparalleled Amenities and Activities
Beyond the luxurious accommodations and incredible kids club, the resort offers a wealth of amenities that cater to every interest. The spa, set over the mangroves, offers breath taking views from the treatment rooms, making it a haven of relaxation. They even offer guided snorkel tours around the mangroves where you can see the resident sea horses! For fitness enthusiasts, the resort boasts a state-of-the-art fitness centre with both indoor and outdoor gyms, personal trainers, and a semi-Olympic size lap pool. Golf lovers are spoilt for choice with two championship golf courses—one at Anahita and another on Ile Aux Cerf, with tailored golf packages available.
Tennis courts are also available, and all resort pools are heated—a crucial feature during the winter months of Mauritius, which we experienced first hand during our August stay. Despite the occasional wind on the east coast, we found the resort’s design—with beaches on both sides—meant there was always a calm spot to enjoy, and the heated pools ensured we were never too cold to take a dip.
Culinary Delights for All Ages
Dining at the Four Seasons is an experience in itself. With six restaurants to choose from, each offering a distinct culinary experience, we were never short of options. Our favorite meal was at the Indian restaurant, where the black dal was simply unforgettable. One thoughtful touch we appreciated was the consistent kids’ menu across all restaurants. This meant our children could enjoy their favourite dishes no matter where we dined, allowing us to enjoy the diverse cuisine without worrying about picky eaters.
