Bullo River Station

Set on half a million acres of remote outback country in Australia’s Top End, Bullo River Station is as wild and vast as it sounds — but also warm, intimate, and completely unforgettable. This working cattle station turned luxury wilderness lodge offers the rare chance to experience the Australian bush in its rawest form, without giving up comfort or care. Helicopter rides over gorges, fishing for barramundi in secret waterholes, and cruising past ancient Aboriginal rock art at sunset — this is adventure at its most authentic.

Days at Bullo are shaped by the land. You might be up early for a horseback cattle muster, or slowly kayaking down the Bullo River through freshwater crocodile territory. In between, you’re welcomed back with cooling towels, beautifully prepared meals served under the stars (all meals and drinks are included in your stay), and the kind of attentive service that never feels overdone. There’s no spa or formal schedule — just an invitation to slow down, explore, and connect deeply with this ancient landscape.

With just 12 guest rooms, the experience feels deeply personal. Interiors are simple but stylish, designed to let the setting do the talking — natural textures, cool stone floors, and crisp linen to sink into after a dusty, sun-drenched day. It’s perfect for couples with a sense of adventure, or families with older children ready to unplug and soak up the outdoors.

Location

Bullo River Station

Bullo River Station sits near the border of the Northern Territory and Western Australia, about 800km southwest of Darwin. Most guests arrive by private air transfer (chartered flights from Darwin or Kununurra), which not only saves time but sets the tone with jaw-dropping aerial views. The station is remote — and that’s the point. Once here, you're completely surrounded by outback wilderness, escarpments, gorges and wildlife in every direction.
