Over the last 12 months we’ve been on three Virgin Voyages cruises. Starting in the USA on a 5 night voyage from Miami and then last summer sailing around the Med on a 7 night cruise experiencing Ibiza, Italy, and France.
I’m not you average ‘cruiser’ but I am totally hooked. Why? I think it’s a combination of the fact it’s so fun yet if you want downtime there’s plenty of spaces to feel relaxed. One of the things I love is the people on board, they are free to be themselves and you feel you can be you.
A highlight for me on Virgin Voyages is the food, it is incredible. None of this buffet style, with more than 20+ distinctive and delicious specialty restaurants you are so spoilt for choice. As much as a I love food I am also into fitness, and this is where Virgin brings in balance. They have one of the best fitness facilities I have seen on any ship, or hotel for that matter run you through a day on board
What better to way to tell you more about Virgin, than to give you a day in the life on board our cruise that we did with a few of our friends last summer.
As we sail into Ibiza with stunning views our day starts with a stretching class on the perch (which is a viewing platform on the top deck).
Breakfast time! We hit the galley and take a seat at the dine n dash for a full American style breakfast. There is so much choice in the galley, whether you want bagels, French toast, fruit, full breakfast or maybe a grab and go.
After breakfast quick change and then it’s time for a chill by the pool, the vibe is chilled, relaxed music and just catching up on the antics of the night before.
After a busy day I decided to treat myself to some time in the spa. The spa on Virgin is one of the most glamorous and biggest spa’s I have ever seen on ship. I spend my first hour relaxing in the thermal area, ice plunge pool, mud mask in the steam room and then relaxing in the sauna with sea views.
Next up a 60 minute massage is a relaxing room to work away all my aches and pains.
It’s time to get ready as it’s Virgin’s Scarlet night. This is when the ship really celebrates and comes to life, and a touch of red is a must on your outfit.
I love a pre dinner drink and there’s no place better than SIP, a champagne lounge with everything from Moet & Chandon to you vintage champagnes.
Tonight we’re having dinner at Gunbae, a Korean BBQ restaurant. I love it here as it’s a really interactive and fun, with the chefs cooking at your table and the staff playing drinking games with you. It’s a great way to kick off the evening!
The party starts here. At 9pm the ship comes to life with celebrations for Scarlett night. DJ’s, acrobatics, and so many different things going on around the ship.
Someone got brave. On this cruise Stu decided to get a tattoo in the onboard tattoo parlour. I’d suggest if you do want to do this, book it the day you get on the ship as it’s very popular and the tattoo artists are amazing.
The night continues on and we take the party upstairs to the pool deck. The happenings cast go all out with the entertainment and there is dance party in full swing by the pool. Once the professionals have finished everyone joins in, and there is people jumping in the pool, dancing and just living their best lives.
It’s been such a great day but I am so ready for my bed, so we grab a slice of pizza and head to the cabin for some well earned rest before another adventurous day tomorrow. Next stop – Barcelona.
