Lily of the Valley

Perched above the Med, a short drive from the scene-y swirl of Place des Lices, Lily of the Valley feels like a serene secret – part wellness retreat, part Riviera dream. Designed by Philippe Starck and inspired by Provençal abbeys, Babylonian gardens and California cool, the hotel blends beautifully into the hillside, a cluster of terracotta-toned villas scattered among pines and palms.

But make no mistake – this is wellness, redefined. The spa, lit by filtered sunlight from the pool above, is a sanctuary of stone and silence, where in-demand therapist Gilles Szafirko works Ayurvedic magic. Guests come for the tailored programmes – Detox, Weight Loss, Sport – and stay for the balance: Technogym sessions, cell-renewing Indiba facials, and nourishing lunches curated by an on-site dietician. Think elevated avocado toast, poached fish, seasonal vegetables – all served with Riviera flair in the open-air restaurant.

Families, however, are also very welcomed at Lily of the Valley. There’s expansive villas for indoor/outdoor living, an exceptional sailing club with canoeing and paddle boarding, and also the option of hiring babysitters whilst you workout.

From the Vista terrace, the view is pure Côte d’Azur theatre: cream parasols, linen-clad staff, and a crowd that’s as polished as the service. This is St Tropez, yes – but slower, softer, and altogether more considered.

Location

Lily of the Valley, St. Tropez

Lily of the Valley sits just far enough from Saint-Tropez to escape the buzz, yet close enough to dip in and out with ease. It’s around 20 minutes by car to the heart of the village – the iconic Place des Lices, where market stalls meet vintage convertibles and rosé-fuelled lunches stretch on under plane trees. Toulon-Hyères Airport is your closest arrival point, just over an hour’s drive away, while Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport offers more frequent connections and is around 90 minutes by car. For a more glamorous entrance, guests often arrive via private transfer or boat, docking at Port de Saint-Tropez or Port de Cavalaire, both within easy reach of the hotel.

Your

accommodation

The rooms at Lily of the Valley aren’t housed in a single building, but scattered across a collection of elegant “houses” that slip discreetly into the Cap Lardier landscape. Each one is calm and minimalist, with ample space, earthy materials, and large terraces that open out to the wild Mediterranean coast or the protected hills beyond.

For those seeking more space and seclusion, the Pool Suites are a standout. Each offers the rare combination of a private garden and a pool – your own leafy bubble just above the Riviera. Set just below the main hotel, near the Beach Club, they feel wonderfully removed yet still connected to the rhythm of the resort. It’s luxury, but it’s quiet about it.

At the top end, Villa W and the Pool Suite Villa offer even more exclusivity – private sanctuaries ideal for longer stays, family escapes or those who want to tuck themselves away entirely. But wherever you stay, the feeling is the same: everything here is made to feel natural, grounded, and yours.

Yes – while the hotel is beautifully serene, it’s also welcoming to families. Certain suites and villas offer generous space and privacy, and the team is happy to arrange babysitting or family-friendly dining on request. It’s more suited to those looking for a calm, nature-connected escape rather than high-energy activities.

Absolutely. While wellness is at the heart of Lily of the Valley, it’s not a requirement. Many guests come simply for the setting, the design, and the quietly luxurious atmosphere – and dip into spa treatments, yoga sessions or healthy menus as and when it suits.
