10 Things we love about Virgin Voyages!

Virgin Voyages have now been sailing the ‘Virgin Way’ for over a year. Tens of thousands of people have joined them onboard, including six of the Swords Travel team.

Their adults-only cruises offer are a completely different vibe to other cruise lines, with contemporary entertainment and modern interiors. We asked the team who’ve cruised with them to share 10 things we love about Virgin Voyages.

1. No Kids

Virgin Voyages is the only adult-only cruise line that exists. Of course there’s the obvious benefit of having no kids running around but it also means that they’ve been able to focus absolutely everything onboard towards adults and they’ve taken full advantage of this!

2. Entertainment

It’s the best we’ve ever experienced onboard a cruise ship and really unique with things like drag brunches, DJ’s. a circus twist on Romeo & Juliet and private karaoke booths at Groupie. Virgin Voyages have ditched the classic Broadway productions for more contemporary and immersive entertainment.

3. Itineraries with lots of overnight stays

You get to stay overnight in some really cool places like Ibiza, so you can really experience the destination and the night life.

4. The choice and quality of the food

There are 20+ eateries onboard and they’re all included with no extra charge. You won’t find any buffets either, it’s all a la carte dining. Favorites of ours are the Test Kitchen, which serves an incredible six course taster menu (yes with no extra charge) and Gunbae, which combines seriously tasty Korean food with high energy drinking games! There are several Michelin-starred chefs behind the menus and you can really tell.

5. Shake for champagne

Simply shake your phone and have champagne delivered to you anywhere on the ship!

6. Spacious cabins

Even the entry level insider cabins are incredibly spacious and are very cleverly designed. When you start upgrading to the RockStar suites not only do you get an incredible suite designed by Tom Dixon, 24/7 personal agents and bottomless in-room bars but you also unlock access to an exclusive rooftop area of the ship with members only parties and pre-dinner cocktails!

7. The Beach Club at Bimini

None of our team have actually been here as our cruises have all been in Europe, but we can’t not include it in our list of loves as it looks incredible! The Beach Club at Bimini is in the Bahamas and included on all of Virgin Voyage’s Caribbean itineraries. Think the luxury of St. Tropez, combined with the beauty of the Maldives and the energy of Ibiza – sign us up!

Can you think of a better way to start the day? This happens every day either outdoors at The Perch or inside with views of the the rising sun. The outdoor fitness spaces onboard Virgin Voyages are a first of its kind on a cruise ship.

9. No hidden extras

The cruises are really good value with a huge amount included. You won’t be faced with extra bills for gratuities, Wi-Fi, dining supplements, group fitness classes, or entertainment. They even include essential drinks like water, teas, coffee, juice, etc. If you time your booking right you can often bag a great deal with extra credit to cover a lot of your other drinks too! 10. Sustainability
